68-74 AMX & Javelin Rear Shock Mounting Three different rear shock mounting arrangements were used on these models. 1) 68-70 AMX: Both shocks are mounted behind the axle and the upper ends attach to brackets fastened to studs on trunk floor reinforcement plates. 2) 68-74 Javelin V8: The LH shock is mounted behind the axle and the RH shock is mounted in front of the axle. The LH shock upper end is attached to a bracket fastened to studs on a trunk floor mounted reinforcement plate (the same as the 68-70 AMX). The RH shock upper end is attached to the shock mounting area on the floor cross member above the rear axle. Access to the RH upper shock mounting hardware is through the oval hole at the right front of the trunk floor. 71-74 Javelin-AMX: Same as Javelin V8 above. 3) 68-74 Javelin Six: Both shocks are mounted in front of the axle and the upper ends of the shocks are attached to the shock mounting areas on the floor cross member above the rear axle. Access to the upper shock mounting hardware is through the oval holes at the front of the trunk floor. |
